Spamming is doing the same thing too many times. For example, publishing the same comment 10 times on the same post. Another popular example is to send the same e-mail message to 100 e-mail addresses at once.
Why spam is banned online ? ๐
- User Experience: having too many useless messages (spam) makes useful messages go out of your sight. That impacts your experience of the software/app/platform in a negative/frustrative ways.
- Resource Misuse: Sending large volumes of spam consumes server resources, affecting the performance and reliability of online services for legitimate users.
- Security Risks: Malicious spam often contains links to phishing sites or downloads malware, posing significant risks to personal and financial information. So going against spam help decrease the number of affected users by malicious spam campaign.
- Annoyance and Waste of Time: Spam cluttering inboxes and digital spaces with unwanted messages significantly annoys users and wastes their time. Users must sift through irrelevant content to find valuable information, negatively impacting their overall experience online.
- Economic Impact: The economics of spam favor spammers, as the costs of sending spam are minimal compared to the potential gains from successful scams or the value of the resources consumed. This imbalance encourages spamming activities, further exacerbating the problem.
